As long as I can remember, I’ve loved Mexican food. My parents grew up in Phoenix back in the days when real cowboys, not stock brokers, wore Stetsons and the Mexican restaurants served real Mexican cuisine not Tex-Mex.
They grew up on tamales made fresh by the family who lived next door. And as such, they’ve always been just a little bit snobby about Mexican food. Chipotle just won’t cut it for them. One of the first things they do when they move to a new town is to try out the Mexican restaurants in the area. If you’re looking for a recommendation, you can count on my parents for a good one.
