The story goes that Hemingway always ended on a question mark. Never ended his writing day with anything more final than a comma.
My mom and I like endings with commas. When we finished “Gilmore Girls” (the first time) we went back to the beginning and watched the first episode again.
That show ends with a comma — you feel like you know just enough, a fraction, and can imagine the rest.
When we watch “West Side Story,” more often than not, we start over after “Officer Krupke” because it ends with a period.
