My Babka-inspired spiced chocolate pull-apart bread

My mom was adopted by an ethnically Jewish father as a baby. Her biological parents were Irish. I am my mother’s biological daughter. I am not related by blood to my Jewish grandfather.

So we’re not ethnically Jewish, we’re Irish. And we’re not religiously Jewish either, we’re Christians. It gets confusing fast.

Here’s how I usually explain it — I’m ethnically Irish, but I’m emotionally Jewish.

My mom and I are good at complaining like most Jewish mothers and daughters.

We have dark curly hair and light complexions like most Irish mothers and daughters.

We have big mannerisms like most Jewish mothers and daughters.

And we have big tempers like most Irish mothers and daughters.
